Genocide in Yemen – Bosniak Muslims know it when they see it

National Congress of The Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina ONLINE NEWSLETTER, International, No. 973 December 17, 2018 CONTENT 1. Genocide in Yemen – Bosniak Muslims know it when they see it ──────────── 1. Genocide in Yemen – Bosniak Muslims know it when they see it By Vahid Sendijarevic Let us stop playing a game of appeasement to kings and princes of the Saudi Royal Family and call the war crimes in Yemen for what they are, genocide. Article 2 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide defines genocide as “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: (a) Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.” Under military siege for three and half years, indiscriminate bombardment from the air and the land, indiscriminate killing of civilians and destruction of civilian infrastructure and total destruction of economy on territory under Houthis control, Saudi Arabia is deliberately using starvation as a weapon creating conditions of life calculated to maximize destruction of Houthis, creating human catastrophe not seen in the world in the present times. According to a report from the USA Senate floor, eighty-five thousands of Houthi children under age of 5 have died from starvation and curable diseases. Eleven millions of Houthis are at the brink of starvation. There is one parallel between genocide in Bosnia and Genocide in Yemen. Both genocides, in Bosnia and Yemen, are result of foreign aggression by the neighboring country, Serbia in the case of Bosnia and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the case of Yemen. What is different between the genocide in Bosnia and Yemen is the role of the USA government. In the case of Bosnia, the USA government under presidency of Bush 41 was on a side of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a victim of aggression. In the case of Yemen, The USA government under presidency of Obama and Trump is a partner in the aggression. The USA administration under Bush 41 introduced the Resolution 752 at the United Nations Security Council, which was adopted unanimously on 15 May 1992, weeks from the start of aggression on Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina by Yugoslav People’s Army (Army of Serbia and Montenegro) and Croatian Army. The Resolution 752 served as a basis for further international sanctions against Serbia and Montenegro, beginning with Resolution 757 that was adopted on 30 May 1992 only two weeks from the Resolution 752. On 22 September 1992, United Nations General Assembly adapted Resolution A/RES/47/1 by which the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) lost their membership in the United Nations (de facto were expelled from the UN). The USA administration under presidency of Bush 41 insured that Serbia could not fly any airplanes anywhere in Bosnia and thus Bosnians were not bombarded from the air in 3 and half years of Serbian aggression. The world community never let Serbia to starve Bosnians in cities under Serbian siege and there is no report that a single child died in Bosnia from starvation. In the case of Yemen, starting with Obama’s administration, US is a partner to the Kingdom in the aggression on Yemen. The USA government did not provide only arms and airplanes to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the US government is providing intelligence for targets in Yemen, refueling Saudis airplanes during bombing raids, and provides full military support in blockade of Yemen which led to death of eighty-five thousands of Houthi children under age of 5 from starvation and curable deses. President Trump proudly talks about amount of money that USA makes as a result of arms sale to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is used in the war in Yemen. Recently it has been reported how much money the Kingdom owes to the US military for a fuel and refueling services provided to military jets during raids on Houthis. So, the role of USA in the war in Yemen is not questionable. The USA government is complicit in the genocide committed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against Houthis and thus in violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. According to Article 6 of the US Constitution, every international treaty (agreement) made by the US government is a supreme law of the United States. International treaties constitute what is known as “international laws.” Whenever the US government is in violation of any international law, it is violating Article 6 of the US Constitution. Therefore, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and the Charter of the United Nations (the UN Charter) are supreme laws of the USA and, in the case of Yemen, the US government is in violation of the Article 6 of the US Constitution. The question to the US Congress is how we got from Bush 41’s "a new world order — a world where the rule of law, not the law of the jungle, governs the conduct of nations" to Trump’s “world in chaos” in which international law and Article 6 of the US Constitution can be violated at will by the US administrations?
