1. Srebrenica: Repeated requests for formal state funeral ceremonies to honor the victims of genocide

OPEN LETTER TO:

Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Honorable Mr. Valentin Inzko, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina
Honorable Major General Bernhard Bair, Commander EUFOR
Honorable Mr. Selmo Cikotic, Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Honorable Gentlemen,

One month ago we sent a formal written request for formal state funeral ceremonies to honor the victims of genocide on the 15th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica. To date, we have not received a response.

In the meantime, the Association of Mothers of Srebrenica and Podrinja (Majke Srebrenice i Podrinja) (“Association”) has proceeded with its plans regarding the commemoration and burial of identified remains of additional 731 victims of genocide.

The first part of our plan to raise 5 (five) flags of the internationally recognized member of the UN, the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina is completed.

After much propaganda from the very institutions that committed the genocide, the Association was “rewarded” with a citation from the municipal authorities demanding that the flags be taken down within 48 hours. In addition, criminal charges were filed against me personally by the Police of Republika Srpska, the institution that committed genocide as ruled by the International Court of Justice.

In response to these oppressive measures by the government of the Republika Srpska, the Association raised 4 (four) banners, sized 8 meters x 2 meters, with quotations from the International Court of Justice:

1. SERBIA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SREBRENICA GENOCIDE

2. SERBIA = AGGRESSION = GENOCIDE = DAYTON = REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

3. JUDGEMENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE SUPERSEDES DAYTON’S GENOCIDAL CREATIONS

4. VICTIMS OF GENOCIDE DEMAND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DECISION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

After the raising of the banners, I received written order to report to the Police stations for interrogation.

Taking into account that I did nothing illegal and that I am myself a victim of genocide, I did not response to the police order. Victims of genocide do not and should not have to respond to harassment propagated by the very institutions which committed genocide.

Afterwards, I received a new order to report to the Police for interrogation. This time, Salihovic Edin-Dino, Rahmanovic Halil, and Dizdarevic Hakija were also presented with summons for the same “informative talks.” The only role of these three individuals in raising the banners was as a paid workforce. They did work for a wage so that they could support their families—families which have returned to live in the very place where genocide was committed.

As with the previous summons, I will not respond to this latest summon. I have suggested the same to the three paid workers.

Dear Gentlemen, I again look to you and request that you take seriously the current situation relating to the flags and banners, and the summons which followed. By taking no action, you will be directly responsible for any impeding escalation of the situation.

The Association of Mothers of Srebrenica and Podrinje will continue with its activities. These activities will include the raising of a permanent structure for display of the quotations from the legally binding judgment of the International Courte of Justice.

Remember, there are still patriots of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina who could not be bought and who will never be bought.

If you do not take our situation seriously and do not protect us as survivors of genocide and do not protect the rights of the victims of genocide from the aforementioned illegalities, you will force us to take the protection of our rights in to our own hands.

By your inaction, you are forcing the victims of genocide to rise up on July 11th against the genocidal constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

2. Attorney for the Mothers of Srebrenica takes preventive steps to assure safety of his clients

Dear Colleagues:

I am the Attorney of Record for the Mothers of Srebrenica and Podrinja in Bosnia-Herzegovina. One of our Co-Presidents, Ibran Mustafic, a survivor of the genocidal massacre at Srebrenica, has been threatened by the Republika Srpska Police, the same people who perpetrated the genocide. Could you please put me in touch with the people in London in charge of making the decisions on sending out Urgent Actions at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

3. Americans for Bosnia Mission Statement

In Bosnia, a war was fought between civic nationalism and individual liberty versus ethnic nationalism and collectivism. Bosnia’s struggle was, and is, America’s struggle. Dedicated to the struggle of all of Bosnia’s peoples–Bosniak, Croat, Serb, and others–to find a common heritage and a common identity.

4. Bosnia’s pay back to Iran

Bosnia’s position and vote on the resolution was very important. Bosnia voted for the resolution against Iran. This was the first opportunity for Bosnia since its independence from Serbia to pay back Iran for the support that Iran provided it in its war of independence. But not only did it not abstain or cast a negative ineffective vote, it actually chose to support the resolution and even announce this well before the vote.

Abbas Abdi, political analyst from Iran

Comment: Will this vote finally help the world to understand that Bosnian leaders are not “Muslim fundamentalists” but Serbian agents set to power by the Yugoslav police to play the role of the “Muslim fundamentalists” in order to give legitimacy for the destruction of the country and genocide of the Bosnian people.

5. Serbian president Tadic to attend Srebrenica commemoration

23 June 2010 | 16:54 | Source: Tanjug

ISTANBUL — Serbian President Boris Tadic announced on Wednesday that he will attend the 15th anniversary of the crime committed against Muslims in Srebrenica.

The massacre, declared a genocide in an ICJ ruling, will be marked next month.

Comment: This news should be seen in the connection with the fact that Serbia did not arrest Ratko Mladic, a Serbian general and the commander of the forces who executed the Srebrenica genocide.

After this news was posted in balkansdiscussion@yahoogroups.com, one of the participants commented:

“I wonder if someone will use this occasion to ask him when he’ll arrest Ratko Mladic.”

The following was my response:

“That is a very good question Steven. And not only that Bosnians should ask about Mladic; there are many other questions that Bosnians should ask Tadic. Yesterday, I mentioned some other most recent open issues between Bosnia and Serbia, let me repeat:

- Recently Serbia did not apologize and even did not recognize that it was genocide in Srebrenica.

- Arrest and imprisonment of Jurisic in Belgrade.

- International warrant for many Bosnian defenders, including Ejub Ganic case.

However, Bosniak leaders Silajdzic, Tihic and others go to Serbia in official visits, behave as though everything is OK. In fact, they see Tadic as their boss, not as a president of the country that did so many injustices in Bosnia.”
